After four hours delay of their scheduled starting time, and among much confusion the Los Angeles Bonus Army got under way and paraded down Broadway on their 3000-mile trek to the Capitol. A huge throng gathered on the downtown streets to cheer and bid them goodbye and good luck. Los Angeles, CA, June 10, 1932.

For want of shelter, these bonus marchers from Camden, N.J., sleep in an open field on the Anacostia Flats. They are but a fragment of the huge “army” assembling from various parts of the United States to present a plea for payment of the bonus. Washington, D.C., June 6, 1932.
